Alexander Grushko, Russia's permanent representative to NATO, expressed bewilderment at the attempts to make the Russian side of the conflict.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who gave an interview to Estonian television, expressed the position that Russia could "become a part of the peace agreement, or follow the path of isolation." Further, the secretary general said the alliance "invites Russia to become a party to a peace agreement."
The permanent representative of the Russian Federation stated that "Russia actually imputes responsibility for what is happening there, and are not a party to the conflict, NATO is ignoring the very nature of Ukrainian domestic crisis that arose around the actions of the West." The diplomat added: "For months now, the Western alliance prefers to ignore the use of the Ukrainian security forces and heavy weapons against the civilian population, turning a blind eye to the numerous war crimes and human rights violations by Kiev disregarding the Minsk and other arrangements."
